Australian Axeman's Hall of Fame Leased

7 October 2016 (amended: 7 October 2016)

The Chairman of the Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame Management Committee, Cr Mike McLaren has announced that Mrs. Amanda Atkins-Cock has been awarded the lease on the Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame facility situated at Bells Parade Latrobe.

Cr McLaren said the management committee was very impressed with the plans that Amanda had for the facility and would be working with her to revitalise the complex including the establishment of the Thai Imperial restaurant which currently operates out of a leased premises at Devonport.

“The Axeman’s facility and the Bells Parade precinct is an important asset owned by the community and Council would work with Amanda on revitalising the Axeman’s memorabilia collection, the Sunday market and the café and restaurant experience. There are great opportunities to hold more functions at the Axeman’s as it is one of the few facilities on the coast that can cater for functions attracting 300-500 people” Cr McLaren said.

Amanda has been a successful business woman for over twenty years and has previously operated the Tipsters function centre at the Devonport Show Grounds, the kitchen at the Mackey’s Hotel and has been at the Thai Imperial restaurant for eight years.

The Mayor of Latrobe, Cr Peter Freshney said “Council was very pleased to attract someone of Amanda experience and reputation to run the facility.  We believe that this initiative will secure the successful operation of the Axeman’s complex for the long term”.
