SHORT STAY ACCOMMODATION ACT 2019 - ARE YOU READY FOR THE CHANGES?

Do you own a property which is let out to guests through a dedicated booking platform?  (eg Airbnb, Booking.com etc)

Are you aware that the State Government introduced the Short Stay Accommodation Act 2019 effective 4 June, 2019.  This Act applies to short stay accommodation in the following planning scheme zones - General Residential Zone, Rural Living Zone, Environmental Living Zone and Village Zone?

The Act requires a short stay premises provider to supply confirmation to their booking platform that the premises either has –

  • the required planning permit,
  • does not require a planning permit or
  • has existing use rights established under section 12 of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act, 1993.

This information must be supplied to all your providers before 4 December, 2019.

After this date, penalties apply and your provider will not be permitted to continue to take your bookings.
